History of the Hotel Médano
The Hotel Médano has been open for more than 50 years, making it the oldest hotel in Tenerife South. We are talking about an icon of tourism in El Médano that would change the course of the town for life.
The history of the Hotel Médano began more than 100 years ago, between 1910 and 1915.
At that time the Hotel Médano was not even a hotel, but a tomato packing warehouse designed for the access of the ships to the goods.
No roads or cars. In those years boats were the kings of transport on the island of Tenerife.
In the 1940s, the building was renovated and converted into a party hall for the entertainment of El Médano.
It was in the 1960s when its promoter Francisco García Feo (also known as Don Frasco) came up with the idea of converting the building into what is now the Hotel Médano. Don Frasco was a visionary who laid the foundations of tourism in Tenerife South with the Hotel Médano: the first hotel in the south of the island of Tenerife.
